FaceBlur extension privacy
Effective September 13, 2026. This policy applies to the FaceBlur Chrome extension.
Your videos stay on your device
The extension reads only video files you explicitly select or drop into its editor. Face detection, preview rendering, and video export happen locally. Videos, filenames, detected face positions, and audio are not uploaded or transmitted to us or third parties.
No accounts or tracking
The extension does not require an account and contains no analytics, advertising, telemetry, or remote code. It does not read websites, browsing history, cookies, contacts, or account information. Its face model and processing libraries are bundled and work offline.
Temporary processing and downloads
The editor holds selected files and processing results in memory while the tab is open. It does not create a saved project or store face data. Closing the editor releases its temporary state. Files you download remain in your chosen download location until you delete them.
Face detection is not identification
The model locates face regions to apply a visual cover. It does not identify people or create an identity database. Detection may miss small, turned, or obscured faces. Review the entire exported video before sharing it.
Sharing and permitted use
We do not receive, sell, rent, or share your selected videos, audio, filenames, or face-detection results. These data are used only to provide the local video-redaction features you choose. They are not used for advertising, credit decisions, or training models. FaceBlur’s use of user data is limited to its stated redaction purpose and follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Chrome and the Web Store
Chrome controls extension installation, updates, and downloads under its own policies. This extension policy is separate from the FaceBlur website policy. The extension does not upload originals to the website.
Visiting the policy website
If you open the public version of this policy or another FaceBlur website page, the hosting and security provider may process ordinary web-request information, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time. That website activity is separate from extension processing. See the website privacy information in the Terms of Use for website-specific practices.
Changes and questions
We will update the effective date when this policy changes. Material changes to the extension’s data handling will be disclosed before they take effect. For available support routes, visit the FaceBlur contact page. Do not include private videos in a support request.
