How to Blur Faces in an iPhone Video

iPhone videos are usually MOV or MP4 files. FaceBlur accepts both, finds visible faces, and exports a copy with the faces covered.

Before you start

Blur the faces

  1. Move the video to the device you will edit on, using AirDrop, Files, or a cable.
  2. Open FaceBlur and choose the file.
  3. Play and scrub the preview. Check every face mask.
  4. Choose mosaic, blur, or solid cover, then adjust strength and margin.
  5. Export and watch the finished file before you share it.

Keep the file under 90 MB

Long 4K clips are large. Trim the clip in Photos before you upload it, or record at 1080p. A shorter clip also gives you less to review.

Why the export may be WebM

MP4 export needs an AVC encoder in your browser. If there is none, FaceBlur falls back to WebM. A desktop browser is the most reliable choice for long clips, because the export is assembled in memory.

Check the whole export. Faces that are small, turned away, or moving quickly can be missed. Watch the downloaded video, not just the preview.
