Video face redaction checklist
A missed frame, reflection, voice, or piece of context can still identify someone after you cover their face. Check the file you exported as well as the preview.

Choose the cover
- Mosaic: hides detail with large color blocks.
- Solid: hides every pixel inside the mask.
- Soft blur: keeps more facial structure visible than the other two.
- Margin: adds room around a mask but cannot fix a missed detection.
Before you share
- Watch the downloaded file from the first frame to the last.
- Scrub through cuts, entrances, exits, turns, and obstructions.
- Inspect mirrors, windows, screens, photographs, and background people.
- Pause on the smallest and fastest-moving faces.
- Remove audio if a voice, spoken name, or conversation identifies someone.
- Check clothing, tattoos, badges, plates, documents, and location clues.
When FaceBlur is not the right tool
Use a video editor with manual masks when one missed frame would cause harm, faces stay tiny or hidden, or different people need different treatment.
